Thank you for a GREAT year!Hello foundation partners! Thank you for the support, prayers, and love you gave JCF in 2008. As the 1st quarter of 2009 comes to a close I would like to share with you highlights from 2008. University of Alabama undefeated football season. Can you say ROLL TIDE! What a pleasant sur-prise to the BAMA Nation. When people ask me about the undefeat-ed season and how Coach Saban in only his second season turned the team around two things come to mind that every championship team must have:
In life one usually gets what he or she expects, so why wouldn’t you have a high level of expectation if you are in a competitive sport? And if you are a part of a team and people are counting on you then one needs accountability. I believe God wants us to have a high expectation of ourselves (Dream Big) and to take seriously our role and responsibility because we are a part of a TEAM. I love the team approach Coach Saban teaches and preaches. When one thinks about it you can’t live life without being on a team. From marriage, family, employee, and church, we should strive to have high expectations and ac-countability. In 2008 JCF touched the lives of well over 20,000 people (conservatively). I thank God for the opportunity to minster to people varying in age from 5 to 75 years old, from the corporate board-room to youth league football and everything in between, well not everything. What is neat to me about what we do in the foundation is we touch lives at all levels and cul-tural backgrounds. Some people would ask how can you be effec-tive if you are not focused on one specifi c group. I would beg your difference and say we are focused on one group (people). At JCF we invest to infl uence and to impact so that we may inspire all people to accomplish the dream that’s in their heart. Jean and I consider it a privilege to serve our fellow man. We love working with the little wide-eyed fi ve year old in a youth football camp that thinks he’s the next Brett Favre; the middle school student encouraged by a book bag fi lled with school sup-plies that their parents couldn’t afford. We love taking newly-wed cou-ples through the six week Gary Chapman series and sharing hope in an auditorium full of 15-18 year olds who think they know every-thing about life and know what a DREAM is. We are honored to encourage employers and employ-ees to give it their best each day they’re on the job and last, but not least, sharing God’s word through-out the southeast with local church members on any given Sunday morning.
If I had to choose a highlight of the year it would be presenting a Bible to Houston Thrailkill. Houston had previously lost an auto-graphed Bible in a house fi re. He was totally surprised when Simeon Castille and I presented it to him at school with the entire student body in the gym. I wish you could have seen his face when we came into the gym with the band playing “Yea Alabama!” What a moment for Houston and JCF. As we complete the 1st quarter of 2009, I am excited about opening of the Jeremiah Castille Commu-nity Development Center. We will, with God’s grace, provide quality educational enrichment programs for the youth in Birmingham, starting in the Woodlawn and Ensley areas. Learn how you can become involved on the next page. Thank you for your support, but most importantly for your prayers. By: Jeremiah Castille Comment on this article: |
